Chairman & Managing Director, Business Octane
Great ideas have humble beginnings. Personal reflections on building Business Octane — the patents, the journeys, and the moments that shaped a category that didn't exist before.
Sanjay Bansal is the Chairman & Managing Director of Business Octane — the world's only ultra-super specialist in Ultra-Immersive Video Collaboration and Collaborative Learning. With more than two decades in the audio-visual industry, he holds multiple patents and has pioneered solutions that have transformed how enterprises and institutions collaborate across geographies.
He built the company on a simple conviction: that the gap between a video call and a real conversation was an engineering problem, not a fact of life — and that closing it required inventing the category from the ground up rather than assembling it from off-the-shelf parts.
"My personal mission is simple — to give every meeting, classroom and boardroom in the world a face-to-face experience, regardless of distance."
Letters From The Desk
Letter 01
"Every AV integrator in the country was reselling the same handful of cameras and codecs. We chose the harder path — building our own patented systems from the sensor up — because a rented advantage is not an advantage at all."
— S. Bansal
Letter 02
"I still remember the first client who forgot they were on a video call mid-meeting. That moment—not a product spec— became the benchmark every solution we've shipped since has had to clear."
— S. Bansal
Letter 03
"Not the next patent—the next classroom in a small town that still can't access the same teaching a metro student takes for granted. That gap is the one I started this company to close, and it's the one I still measure us against."
— S. Bansal
Milestones, From The Chairman's View
2007
Started Business Octane on the belief that video collaboration was still an unsolved engineering problem—not a checklist of hardware to bundle and resell.
Early Years
Turned down the faster, easier path of distributing third-party systems in favor of building in-house—a decision that took years to pay off but defined everything that followed.
Mid Journey
Years of in-house engineering translated into the company's first filed and granted patents—proof that a homegrown team could out-invent multinational incumbents.
Present
What began as one conviction now stands as a full portfolio of patented, in-house solutions—walked through by clients in person at experience centers across India, not just on a slide deck.
“A meeting should feel like presence, not proximity to a screen. Everything we've patented exists to make that difference disappear.”
